Good Culture has entered a definitive agreement to sell a majority stake to L Catterton, a global consumer-focused investment firm, in a transaction that will fund the next phase of the cultured dairy brand’s growth and capacity expansion. Following nearly fourfold sales growth over the past three years and contributing to a roughly 60% uplift in the broader cottage cheese category, Good Culture plans to use the new capital and L Catterton’s operational support to scale production, broaden U.S. distribution, and intensify product innovation while maintaining its clean-label positioning. Existing investor Manna Tree, which first backed Good Culture in 2022 and has supported several years of rapid growth, will reinvest alongside L Catterton, signaling continued confidence in the company’s long-term trajectory. The deal, which remains subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, marks a pivotal ownership transition that will give Good Culture access to L Catterton’s consumer insights, industry relationships, and value-creation playbook across food and health-oriented brands.

CEO and Co-Founder Jesse Merrill framed the transaction as a milestone in Good Culture’s strategy to modernize the cottage cheese segment and reinforce its leadership in high-protein, better-for-you cultured dairy products. L Catterton executives cited the brand’s authenticity, product quality, and strong consumer resonance as key drivers of their investment thesis, and highlighted what they see as substantial runway in a once-stagnant category now benefiting from durable health and wellness tailwinds. The majority investment is expected to support incremental capacity to meet retailer demand, increase product availability nationwide, and sustain the momentum behind Good Culture’s cottage cheese, sour cream, and cream cheese lines. As a Certified B Corp, the company has reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards for product integrity, employees, communities, and environmental impact even as it scales under new majority ownership, an important consideration for stakeholders tracking governance and mission alignment through the growth phase.
