Crusoe is expanding its Abilene, Texas operations with a new 900 megawatt AI factory campus dedicated to large-scale workloads for Microsoft, lifting the site’s total projected capacity to 2.1 gigawatts and reinforcing its role as a key infrastructure supplier to hyperscalers. The new development, which includes two additional AI buildings and an on-site power plant designed to bolster grid resilience, is adjacent to Crusoe’s existing facilities, with land clearing and site preparation already underway and first energization targeted for mid-2027.
The project underscores Crusoe’s strategy of delivering gigascale, energy-first AI infrastructure on accelerated timelines, following its initial two 100 megawatt Abilene buildings that were built and energized in under a year and a second phase that is expected to expand the campus to 1.2 gigawatts by the end of 2026. By integrating 900 megawatts of new on-site power generation and engineering the campus for next-generation AI silicon, Crusoe positions itself as a leading AI factory developer while driving significant, rising property tax and economic contributions to Abilene and Taylor County, strengthening its local footprint and its strategic importance as a U.S.-based partner for large AI and cloud customers.
