Carbyne has been selected as one of only four approved vendors under the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ regional 911 Call Handling System contract, positioning the company at the center of a major cloud-native modernization effort across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity agreement, which includes two optional five-year renewals, allows 911 centers in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia to procure Carbyne’s i3-compliant platform without running separate competitive tenders, significantly lowering procurement friction and potentially accelerating regional adoption.
For Carbyne, the designation creates a scalable channel into 24 local governments that coordinate on public safety and emergency communications in one of the most security-sensitive regions in the U.S., with implications for long-term recurring revenue and referenceability in other jurisdictions. CEO Amir Elichai framed the award as validation of the company’s cloud-native architecture as agencies seek to replace legacy systems with secure, interoperable, and resilient next-generation 911 infrastructure that supports real-time location, live video, text-to-911, and AI-powered analytics, capabilities that can improve response speed and operational efficiency while reducing maintenance and cybersecurity risks tied to on-premise platforms. The contract also enhances Carbyne’s strategic positioning by deepening its U.S. public safety footprint, strengthening regional interoperability among participating agencies, and expanding its installed base from which it can upsell advanced data and analytics features over time.
