Camunda spent the week leveraging its CamundaCon 2026 conference in Amsterdam to sharpen its positioning around “agentic orchestration” and its AI-native ProcessOS platform. The company highlighted a strategic shift toward workflows that are Camunda-driven, AI-developed and human-governed, underscoring ambitions to be core infrastructure for enterprise AI process management.

Multiple keynotes by co-founder Bernd Ruecker and Bastian Koerber focused on the concepts of inner and outer orchestration, unifying large language models, prompts, tools and audit trails with coordination across people, systems and agents. Live demos showcased how manually handled retail delivery exceptions can be redesigned into continuously learning, AI-driven workflows running on ProcessOS.

Camunda emphasized three capabilities meant to differentiate its platform: unified inner and outer orchestration within a single BPMN model, long-running agents that can pause and resume over days, and the ability to switch steps between deterministic and agent-based execution without major rewrites. This architecture is framed as keeping the orchestration layer stable even as underlying AI models evolve rapidly.

The company also used the event to promote a new book, “Agentic Orchestration: From Agent Pilots to Enterprise Production,” by Ruecker and Amy Johnston, aimed at enterprises moving from simple speed gains to deeper operating model changes. The book stresses that many AI agents fail in production due to missing orchestration infrastructure for trust, observability, integration and scale, aligning closely with Camunda’s ProcessOS narrative.

Community-building was another central theme, with CamundaCon drawing more than 1,000 attendees and featuring ecosystem activities such as an early-morning group run and a high-pressure AI-focused hackathon. The hackathon winners’ projects, built entirely on Camunda to power a fictional spaceship’s AI system, underscored the technical depth of the developer community around AI and orchestration use cases.

For Camunda’s prospects, the week’s news points to continued investment in thought leadership, ecosystem engagement and a clear AI-centric product strategy rather than near-term financial disclosures. If enterprises adopt its agentic orchestration patterns at scale, Camunda could deepen its role in mission-critical workflows and increase switching costs, marking a strategically constructive week for the company.
