An update from Sintana Energy ( (TSE:SEI) ) is now available.
Sintana Energy has disclosed that the Namibian Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy has approved a 12‑month extension of the First Renewal Exploration Period for Petroleum Exploration License 87 in the offshore Orange Basin, pushing the deadline to 22 January 2027. The license, in which Sintana holds a 7.4% indirect carried interest, covers blocks 2713A and 2713B and remains operated by joint venture partner Pancontinental Energy.
The extended term carries firm commitments to complete an Environmental Impact Assessment, reprocess and interpret targeted 3D seismic data, and drill at least one exploration well on PEL 87. Management indicated that the work program is already under way and that improved seismic imaging should support efforts to secure a farm‑in partner, potentially advancing Sintana’s position in Namibia’s increasingly competitive Orange Basin play and enhancing the value of its carried exposure for shareholders.
