Leggett & Platt Withdraws 2026 Outlook Amid Somnigroup Deal

Leggett & Platt ( (LEG) ) has shared an update.

Leggett & Platt reported first-quarter 2026 sales of $918 million on May 7, 2026, down 10% from a year earlier, with 5% of the decline from 2025 divestitures and 5% from weaker organic demand. Earnings also softened, as EBIT fell to $45 million from $63 million and adjusted EPS slid to $0.15 from $0.24, pressured by lower volumes, the loss of divested Aerospace earnings, and margin compression in the Flooring business.

Management said results were broadly in line with expectations but highlighted significant demand weakness across most end markets, especially U.S. residential bedding, where it estimates the mattress market declined by high single to low double digits in the quarter. The company cited economic uncertainty, weather-related disruptions, and fallout from the war in Iran, including higher transport and chemical costs, and withdrew its 2026 guidance in light of its pending acquisition by long-time partner Somnigroup, which it says will support long-term strategic and financial value creation for stakeholders.

The most recent analyst rating on (LEG) stock is a Hold with a $12.00 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Leggett & Platt stock, see the LEG Stock Forecast page.

Spark’s Take on LEG Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, LEG is a Neutral.

The score is held back primarily by weakening multi-year revenue trends, prior-year losses, and still-elevated leverage, partially offset by resilient cash flow and deleveraging progress. Valuation is a clear support due to the low P/E, while technical signals are mixed and guidance points to continued near-term demand headwinds. The pending acquisition adds incremental support but carries deal-closure uncertainty.
