The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels announced a significant refresh of its board, with several new Independent Non-Executive Directors to be appointed immediately after its 2026 annual general meeting. Long-serving Independent Non-Executive Director Dr the Hon. Sir David Kwok Po Li will retire after more than 38 years on the board and transition to the role of Senior Advisor to the Chairman, with the company emphasizing there is no dispute underlying his departure.
The company will appoint Kalpana Desai and Philippe Ward as Independent Non-Executive Directors, succeeding outgoing directors Pierre Roger Boppe and Dr William Kwok Lun Fung, while Adrian Li will also join the board as an Independent Non-Executive Director. The appointments bring deep expertise in investment banking, corporate governance, real estate and hospitality advisory to the board, and are accompanied by changes to board committee composition that are intended to strengthen oversight and strategic guidance for shareholders and other stakeholders.
